About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Ophthalmologist specialised in VR for our Ophthalmology Department in the Northern Region.
Working with us is an opportunity for you to make a real difference in the health and wellbeing of our Auckland community. You’ll be joining the Surgical Directorate team who share Te Toka Tumai Auckland DHB’s values of Haere Mai - Welcome, Manaaki - Respect, Tūhono - Together and Angamua - Aim High.
Our Ophthalmology Service provides high quality care to patients in the Northern Region - offering a range of secondary and tertiary services. This is a full time, permanent position (40 hours per week). In this role you will be employed by Te Toka Tumai (Auckland District) and be primarily based at Greenlane Clinical Centre. You will also provide services at Waitakere Hospital, Counties Manukau and at various sites across the Auckland region.
Working alongside a large team of part-time and full-time Consultants providing tertiary sub-specialist provision in all areas of Ophthalmology, you will enjoy working in a collaborative and cohesive team. You will also have the opportunity to engage in teaching as Auckland is a major teaching and research centre, with strong links with the University of Auckland.
You will provide specialist and general ophthalmic services to the diverse population of the Auckland region.

Important Skills
You will be registered or be eligible for Vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, and have undertaken postgraduate training in Ophthalmology, obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Ophthalmologist (or equivalent).
